Project Overview

The Annual Blood Donation Campaign is one of the prominent community service drives organized and carried out continuously each year by the Royal College Red Cross Society since its inception in 1979. It has become one of our traditions since then. This massive community service project is not for the school’s and our society's benefit alone, but in aid of the National Blood Bank of Sri Lanka and through it for the entire country.

There is a massive blood shortage in the National Blood Bank during the hard times in the country. The National Blood Bank requested us to carry out our Annual Blood Donation Campaign to fulfil the requirement of clinically safe blood. Therefore, we successfully conducted this significant project on the in 5 phases island wide.

Despite the hardships caused and the challenges faced due to the COVID-19 & the economic crisis, we were able to continue our 43-year legacy of this significant event for the benefit of the Sri Lanka Blood Transfusion Service. As the 43nd instalment of this major event, we successfully concluded our Annual Blood Donation Campaign splendidly with 776 blood donors the highest ever blood donors in the history of the club.
