To enhance the capabilities of Sri Lanka’s Health Care system by providing a large quantity of safe blood to the national blood bank annually.
To donate the maximum healthy amount of safe blood annually to the National Blood Bank thus continuing the legacy of the Royal College Blood Donation Campaign.
The Annual Blood Donation Campaign is one of the prominent community service drives organized and carried out continuously each year by the Royal College Red Cross Society since its inception in 1979. It has become one of our traditions since then. This massive community service project is not for the school’s and our society's benefit alone, but in aid of the National Blood Bank of Sri Lanka and through it for the entire country.
There is a massive blood shortage in the National Blood Bank during the hard times in the country. The National Blood Bank requested us to carry out our Annual Blood Donation Campaign to fulfil the requirement of clinically safe blood. Therefore, we successfully conducted this significant project on the in 5 phases island wide.
Despite the hardships caused and the challenges faced due to the COVID-19 & the economic crisis, we were able to continue our 43-year legacy of this significant event for the benefit of the Sri Lanka Blood Transfusion Service. As the 43nd instalment of this major event, we successfully concluded our Annual Blood Donation Campaign splendidly with 776 blood donors the highest ever blood donors in the history of the club.
This was the highest number of donors for a blood donation in the history of Red Cross Society overcoming the record setting in 2020.
This was the first ever outstation blood donation campaign conducted in the history of Red Cross Society.
This phase was done in partnership with the Interact Club of Trinity College.
The Chief Guest for the event was Mr. Rohan Weerasekara, the Scout Master of Royal College and the administration was present at the opening ceremony. Prefects, Parents, Army personnel donated blood at this event.
