Alleviate '22

Project Objectives

  • Continue raising essential funds to support a diverse range of community service projects undertaken by the Royal College Red Cross Society and the United Nations Club of Visakha Vidyalaya.
  • Dedicate efforts to enhancing the mental health and well-being of our society by organizing events that offer a day filled with entertainment and relaxation.
  • Creating a platform that empowers young talents and artists to showcase their abilities. Alleviate '23 provided them with an opportunity to reach a broader audience, nurturing creativity and artistic expression while inspiring future leaders and performers.
  • Foster active community engagement and participation by encouraging members of all ages to get involved in the event's planning, execution, and enjoyment.
  • Ensure that Alleviate '23 is an inclusive and diverse platform that celebrates the richness of our community's cultural, artistic, and intellectual diversity, fostering a sense of unity and mutual respect.
  • Establish and strengthen collaborations with other schools and institutions around Colombo to expand the reach and impact of Alleviate '23, making it a true community-wide effort.

Analysis on how they were met

We were able to raise funds through sponsorships and ticket sales, raising over a 1,000,0000 for the entire project, our main objective was to reach to as many people as possible and we were successful in it. Over 850 people attended the event, excluding the organizing committee, performers and technical staff. The project was publicized through multiple social media handles including club socials, media channels, performer’s socials and etc.

Project Overview

Alleviate '22 was a collaborative fundraising endeavor jointly organized by the Royal College Red Cross Society and the United Nations Club of Visakha Vidyalaya on the 17th of December 2022 from 4pm onwards at the Royal College Junior Ground. This festival was open to the public, with the purchase of a ticket. The event comprised a multifaceted program, featuring a food festival, a musical show, and an array of entertainment activities organized by the project committee.

A total of 20 stalls were set up. These stalls included both food vendors and those sponsored by external partners. (Pizza Hut, Dominos, Prima, TacoBell, Elephant House, Pickme, Shutterhouse, Kottu mee, Tasty Food, Slush Bar, Barista, Keells Hotdogs, Crescent, Colombo Foods, etc.)

Alleviate '22 featured an eclectic lineup of performers, ranging from seasoned professional artists to talented school-level acts. The list of performers included:

Pickme Sri Lanka, was the official mobility partner of Alleviate’22.

The company put up a games stall for all the young kids present at the event.

The “Pickme Pass”, one of the company’s most successful initiatives was also launched during the event.

The attendees were also given a 15% discount from and to Alleviate’23 when the promo code was used.

Spring & Summer

Spring & Summer, Sri Lanka's premier women's clothing brand was the event’s fashion sponsor.

The attendees were given a 15% discount from any Spring & Summer outlet across Sri Lanka.

Kottu mee, was also present at the event with their famous instant noodles.

A B Securitas, another gold sponsor of the event provided us with excellent security making sure the carnival atmosphere was safe for everyone.

Avant Premiere, one of Sri Lanka’s finest event management companies helped us by being the silver sponsor of the event and managing multiple aspects of the event.

Elife orthopaedics, one of the world's leading providers of orthopedic supports also helped us as the silver sponsor of the event.

Aqua Fresh

Aqua Fresh, the undisputed leader in the local bottled water industry. Helped us with the event by being the Hydration partner.

The company provided us with water bottles for all the attendees present and ensured that everyone are well hydrated and healthy throughout.

Media Partner

Quadrangle, The popular photography and videography company in Colombo and across Sri Lanka, they were one of the media partners of Alleviate’23 capturing moments throughout the event which will be cherished forever.

Media Unit of Royal College, One of the oldest club in Royal College which is well known for its media coverage for all the major events at College was also present capturing great moments of the event and also made an aftermovie of Alleviate’22.

Royal College Photographic Society, The best photography club in Royal College was also present with their exclusive photobooth which enabled participants to capture pictures and save with them. The society also provided media coverage to the event.

Royal College Radio Club, Known for its great services throughout the years at college, the club provided us with a great service by being the official technological partner of the event.

Dinuka Graphic Network (Pvt) LTD

The popular offset printing company, Dinuka Graphic Network was our official printing partner, helped us out with printing all the necessary tickets and other necessary items to make the event a grand success.
