Project Vision

Our vision for the Royal College First Aid Unit is to establish a culture of proactive care and emergency preparedness within our school community. By equipping our members with essential first aid skills and prompting awareness, we aim to foster an environment where every individual feels confident in their ability to respond to medical emergencies. Our overarching goal is to contribute to a safer, more resilient school community.

Project Mission

Our mission is simple yet profound: to ensure that quality first aid assistance is readily available to anyone in need within the Royal College community. Through regular training, awareness campaigns, and a dedicated team of skilled individuals, we aspire to empower our peers to become effective first responders. By doing so, we intend to create a safer school environment and pave the way for a generation of responsible, caring citizens.

Project Objectives & Analysis

  • Team Formation: A skilled first responder team was established to handle emergencies promptly.
  • Safety Awareness: Proactive safety culture promoted through first aid awareness programs for the school community.
  • Training Sessions: Regular first aid training conducted to build confidence and competence in handling medical situations.
  • Emergency Protocols: Clear response protocols developed in collaboration with school administration for coordinated action.
  • Resource Accessibility: First aid kits strategically placed and made easily accessible throughout the school.
  • Community Engagement: Participated in community events and workshops to share first aid knowledge and promote safety.
  • Medical Partnerships: Collaborated with the Royal College Doctors Associations and medical institutions to stay updated on best practices.
  • Mock Drills: Realistic simulations conducted to test readiness and identify areas for improvement.
  • Inclusive Team: Encouraged cross-grade participation to build a diverse and united team.

Project Overview

We send students who have received First Aid training from our first First Aid Leadership Training Program out in to the field using various in school and out of school events to practice their skills and gain real world experience on how to act and react in a real life medical emergency.

The Royal College Red Cross Society has provided First Aid Coverage for the following events.

Annual General Assembly

The Royal College Red Cross Society was requested to Provide first aid coverage for Annual General Assembly which is the most pristine held by the college on March 12th. A total of 10 members had been involved for this event. The participated members have actively engaged in treating ailments such heatstroke and fainting.

Annual Cycle Parade

The Royal College Red Cross Society was requested to Provide first aid coverage for Annual Cycle Parade on March 12th. A total of 30 members had been involved for this event. The participated members have actively engaged in treating ailments ranging from dehydration to heatstroke

145th Battle Of The Blues Cricket encounter

The Royal College Red Cross Society was requested to Provide first aid coverage for the 145th Battle Of The Blues cricket encounter from March 9th to March 10th. A total of 30 members had been involved throughout the duration of this event.The participated members have actively engaged in treating various minor and major injuries and ailments.

46th Mustangs Trophy

The Royal College Red Cross Society was requested to Provide first aid coverage for the 46th Mustangs Trophy cricket encounter . A total of 10 members had been involved throughout the duration of this event. The participated members have actively engaged in treating various minor and major injuries and ailments.

Annual Pirith Chanting Ceremony

The Royal College Red Cross Society was requested to Provide first aid coverage for the Annual Pirith Chanting Ceremony which was held on the 19th of March. A total of 8 members had been involved throughout the duration of this event.The participated members have actively engaged in treating victims of fainting mainly.

Annual Interhouse Sports meet

The Royal College Red Cross Society was requested to Provide first aid coverage for the Annual Inter house sportsmeet . A total of 10 members had been involved throughout the duration of this event. The participated members have actively engaged in treating victims of various sports related injuries including heatstroke.

Annual Primary Interhouse Sports meet

The Royal College Red Cross Society was requested to Provide first aid coverage for the Annual Primary Inter house sportsmeet . A total of 12 members had been involved throughout the duration of this event. The participated members have actively engaged in treating victims of various sports related injuries including heatstroke.

Annual Road Race

The Royal College Red Cross Society was requested to Provide first aid coverage for the Annual Road Race . A total of 12 members had been involved throughout the duration of this event. The participated members have actively engaged in treating victims of various sports related injuries including heatstroke.

Presidents Trophy 2024

The Royal College Red Cross Society was requested to Provide first aid coverage for Presidents Trophy which was held on the 29th and 30th of June which was organized by the National Youth Services Council in collaboration with the RCUAC and Youth Vision 2048. A total of 20 members had been involved in this event for the duration of the two days. No reportable incidents had occured during the event.

Crave’24

The Royal College Red Cross Society was requested to Provide first aid coverage for Crave’24 organized by the United Nations Clubs of Royal College and Bishops College. A total of 10 members had been involved throughout the duration of this event. No reportable incidents had occured during the event.

Zero Gravity’24

The Royal College Red Cross Society was requested to provide first aid coverage for Zero Gravity’24 organized by the Astronomy Society’s of Royal College and Sirimavo Bandarakenayake Vidyalaya. A total of 8 members had been involved throughout the durarion of the event treating variuos minor injuries.

Dodgeball 360

The Royal College Red Cross Society was requested to provide first aid coverage for Dodgeball 360 organized by the Interact Club’s of Royal College and Vishaka Vidyalaya. A total of 8 members had been involved throughout the durarion of the event treating bruise and sprain related injuries.

Interhouse Fencing Tournament

The Royal College Red Cross Society was requested to provide first aid coverage for the Interhouse Fencing Tournamet organized by Royal College Fencing. A total of 8 members had been involved throughout the durarion of the event treating bruise and sprain related injuries.

Royal Mahinda Football encounter

The Royal College Red Cross Society was requested to provide first aid coverage for the Royal Mahinda Football encounter. A total of 8 members had been involved throughout the durarion of the event treating bruise and sprain related injuries.
